In 2022, two internationally exhibited contemporary artists, Dana Hoey and Lucasen Brown, surprised many in the art world by enrolling in prestigious divinity programs—Hoey at Harvard Divinity School and Brown at Yale Divinity School. Their decision raises compelling questions about the relationship between artistic practice, spiritual vocation, and personal transformation. Brown continues to maintain an active painting practice alongside theological study, while Hoey's long history of incorporating lived experience into her artwork has now expanded into ministerial formation. Moderated by Bill Arning, this conversation will explore how faith, theology, and artistic practice inform one another, offering audiences a rare opportunity to consider the intersections of contemporary art and spiritual inquiry.
